Reflection on Week 7: Understanding the Services Sector

The service sector is an intangible product sector, in contrast to the tangible product sector where we can feel it with our five senses, the service sector cannot be seen and felt, but we can feel its presence. For example, with grabfood delivery, we can enjoy food delivery services, what grabfood sells is not the food, because the food comes from restaurants that work with grabfood, what we receive from grabfood is the delivery service.

Private consumption itself means consumer expenditure made by individuals, whether it is expenditure to buy consumer goods or to buy services. If we correlate private consumption with the service sector, we can already see a lot of people using the service sector. Previously, it was discussed about grabfood delivery services, as explained earlier that grabfood delivery does not sell food but sells delivery services.

Talking more about the service sector, which is essentially an intangible product, there is a significant difference between intangible products and tangible products. Previously we talk a lot about grabfood delivery service and the restaurants they work with. In contrast to food, which is tangible, although we can't hear it because food can't make sound, we can hold the food, smell it, we can see its physical appearance, and we can feel it. Services do not exist materially, we cannot hold them, smell the aroma, hear the sound, feel the taste, and see the form, but we can feel that grabfood does deliver the food we ordered.

Next, talk about consumer awareness and education and their correlation to the service sector. So we can see how addicted people are to grabfood delivery right now. Due to the greatness of the grabfood marketing strategy in increasing consumer and engagement, sometimes consumers are easily tempted to use a delivery service at any time, which may cost more than we buy ourselves at the food store or cook ourselves. Therefore, it is important how someone should manage their finances to use delivery services, lest we use delivery services excessively so that our money only runs out to order food even though we can walk alone to the food shop or cook food in our own homes.

Talking about the service sector, it is closely related to trust and prophet Muhammad Shallalahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said in his hadith "Fulfill the mandate to those who trust you and do not betray those who betray you." (HR. Ahmad and Abu Dawud). For example, grabfood must deliver the ordered food without us taking any of the food, because this means that the grabfood is not trustworthy to its customers.

  1. I feel that with the service sector, a lot of work is made easier. Like when we need a car to go but we don't have a car, then there are car rental services to support our needs.

Reflection on Week 2: Integrating the Sejahtera Framework, Sustainable Development and Maqasid alShariah into Customer Awareness

In general there are four subtopics that are covered in this chapter, which are levels of customer awareness, consumer awareness advocacy, consumer intelligence, consumer awareness with Sejahtera Framework. Basically consumer awareness is an understanding or an act where consumer can delivers the information about the products, goods, services, and consumer rights. By having a good consumer awareness means that we have a good understanding about the goods or services that we used either its benefits or its disadvantage, so at the end we can have the right decision when we choose or apply the product. There are 5 stages of consumer awareness, which are unaware, problem aware, solution aware, product aware, most aware. In an era when many people are vying to be rich with the various products or services they sell, it is very important for us as ordinary people who are their target market to have awareness of the products or services they offer. Having an awareness of the product or se...

Reflection on Week 8: Models of Consumer Policy

Consumer policy is a policy that regulates all things about consumerism, both in terms of consumer goods and capital goods. Some of the things discussed were consumer rights, responsibilities of producers and sellers, and all things that are indeed regulated so that the market can run well so that the health, safety and welfare of the community can be guaranteed. Everything related to consumer policy must relate to stakeholders, especially the government which regulates state laws. Anything that is regulated by the state is certainly in the form of intervention to various parties, be it companies or consumers, but that is law, which means to force or suppress, this is done to anticipate unwanted things such as marketplace abuses, market failures, unsafe products or services, and others. For example, in Indonesia, the trade government has decided not to allow anyone to buy luxury goods abroad, and if they buy luxury goods from abroad, they are required to pay excise duty and taxes up...
